En limpieza de ropa a seco, desengrase de metals y limpieza de piezas electrónicas; como extractor de grasa, desengrase de pieles, y extractante para fibras naturales y sintéticas. Es material prima de HCFC-123, HCFC-124, HCFC-125, y HCFC-134a. Usado en la fabricación de CFC-113 y Hexacloroetano, también puede usarse como solvent orgánico.
